Capricorn, the achiever, belongs to the element earth, which is that of material things and concrete action.

So do Taurus and Virgo, but that doesn't necessarily mean Capricorn is particularly compatible with them - they need to agree on common goals. Nor for that matter is Capricorn always incompatible with, say, the air signs Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius, although they are quite different. Generally speaking, Capricorn wants a relationship to lead to something - the bigger the better. Family, home, a bunch of children - everything that can be described as success in life. If the partner has less ambitions and even opposes such plans, the relation is doomed.

Capricorn enters a relationship with forceful commitment and makes sure that everything about it is all that can be wished for. Sort of like a project or a business venture. There is love, certainly, but it's expressed in a concrete way that some might find lacking in romance.

Still, Capricorn knows how to make the effort that gets the partner pleased.
